Vipul Patel

Vipul (Vip) Patel is the Gulli Lab’s Neuroscience Infrastructure Specialist, responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the custom research systems at the heart of the lab’s science. He builds and supports high-performance computers for virtual reality, real-time data acquisition, and large-scale analysis; integrates diverse hardware and software into cohesive recording platforms; and manages the lab’s networking, data storage, and backup infrastructure to keep experiments running reliably. Vip brings more than 20 years of experience supporting neuroscience and ophthalmology research — most recently building and troubleshooting electrophysiology, Neuropixels, and eye-tracking rigs across multiple systems neuroscience labs at Columbia University, and previously leading research-IT and mobile vision-screening programs at NYU Langone Health and Columbia University Medical Center.
